Message	VTC solenoids can leak. They can both be removed and replaced without removing the plenum, etc. I posted my steps for doing the drivers side here: [ http://www.twinturbo.net/nissan/300zx/forums/technical/view/1138053/I-pulled-the-drivers-side-VTC-wo-a-plenum-pull-this-weekend.html ] Passenger side was mostly moving wires out of the way. I think I pulled the battery to give myself more room to work with. Due to other issues, I've only put about 600 miles on since doing them, but I'm no longer leaking back there. If it isn't the VTCs, then its likely your valve cover gaskets, another common issue. That does require a plenum pull.
